How to play Stroke Play — individual
Classic golf: count every stroke, lowest total wins. Played gross or net (your course-handicap pops come off where you get them).
any player count · gross or net
The rules
Everyone plays their own ball for 18 holes. In a net game each player’s course handicap turns into pops on the hardest holes (by stroke index), and the payout places rank by net total; gross ranks the raw scores. The pot’s game share pays the top places on a gradient — 1st gets the biggest slice, and the last paid place always gets at least their entry back when the math allows.
Plays best: Small fields, similar handicaps, or any day you want zero explaining on the first tee.
Play Stroke Play — individual with Tangent
Pick Stroke Play — individual in Game setup and Tangent does the rest: every player scores on their phone (or their Tangent app round fills the card), pops come from each player’s handicap and tee, the live board shows where everyone stands, and the money settles itself at the end — no spreadsheet, no math at the bar.
Players who play their round in the Tangent app don’t type a thing: the app keeps their card, and the live board adds tour-style stats — fairways, greens in regulation, putts, longest drive and the shot of the day by strokes gained.
