How to play Stableford — points
Points on every hole against par — birdie 3, par 2, bogey 1, double or worse 0. Most points wins.
any player count · net or gross
The rules
Everyone plays their own ball and earns points for each hole’s score against par: albatross 5, eagle 4, birdie 3, par 2, bogey 1, double bogey or worse 0. In a net game your pops come off first, so a net birdie is 3 points. A blow-up hole costs nothing below zero — once you can’t score, pick up. Players rank by total points; the pot’s game share pays the top places on the same gradient as stroke play.
Plays best: Mixed handicaps and a quicker pace — nobody grinds out a 9, and nobody is out of it after one bad hole.
Play Stableford — points with Tangent
Pick Stableford — points in Game setup and Tangent does the rest: every player scores on their phone (or their Tangent app round fills the card), pops come from each player’s handicap and tee, the live board shows where everyone stands, and the money settles itself at the end — no spreadsheet, no math at the bar.
Players who play their round in the Tangent app don’t type a thing: the app keeps their card, and the live board adds tour-style stats — fairways, greens in regulation, putts, longest drive and the shot of the day by strokes gained.
